- Open your third-party application for FTP and connect to your hosting account.
Note: For those who don't have a third-party application for FTP, please navigate this link on where you can download one and how to connect to your hosting account using it: http://www.zoom.ph/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=10216 Skip the step 6 on this link. - Once connected, just drag/copy the public_html folder on your hosting account and drop/paste it to your local unit and it will serve as your backup for your web files because all web files are stored in public_html directory.
Note: For those who have an addon domain or subdomain,you can notice that it doesn't have a public_html directory. There is no need to find for it. The root directory of your addon and subdomain is what you need. Just replicate the step 2 process in order to backup your web files for your addon or subdomain.
Note: If you don't have a database on your website, you're already done with backing up your web files but if you have a database, please proceed to step 3. - Log in to your cPanel and look for the PHPMyAdmin tool and click the icon to open it.
- Click the database name and look for the Export and click it. It is located at the upper level of PHPMyAdmin and in between Status and Import.
- After clicking the Export tool, just click the Go button and it will begin to download your current database.
- You're finally done to manually backup your web files and database.
